The ideal candidate meets the following requirements:

  • You must love and be comfortable around all dog types and sizes! It’s what we’re all about.
  • Be able to multi-task and keep a cool head – we are a busy place with training programs, grooming service, feeding and cleaning all going on at once.  Are you able to keep cool under organized chaos on a daily basis?
  • Full-time and part-time positions are open. Part-time positions include 3-4 shifts per week totaling 24-32 hours. There is always the possibility of more, especially over the holidays.  Weekends and all holidays are required of everyone.

In addition;

You must be available for our shifts which are from 7 a.m. to 2:30 pm or 12:30pm-9 p.m.  We operate 6 days/week, Monday through Saturday, 365 days/year.

We all must be punctual, reliable and able to handle large, strong dogs and do some heavy lifting.

You are comfortable with the sometimes necessary things associated with caring for dogs; scooping poop, cleaning up occasional vomit, diarrhea, etc.

Due to shift hours, having your own reliable transportation is required – public transportation may not get you here by 7 a.m. especially on weekends and holidays.

Prior experience in the dog care industry (grooming, shelter volunteering, positive reinforcement training or other daycare/boarding facility) is preferred however we do train staff.

We use only positive reinforcement-based training methods when working with our clients so a similar mindset is required.

Our Philosophy
Our Philosophy is grounded in state-of-the-art, research-based, non-aversive training techniques. These we combine with affection and gentle regard for each dog’s unique temperament and needs for exercise, interaction and mental stimulation. We believe that every dog needs a trained human, so all of our classes and training programs include activities and instructional experiences that create informed, confident dog and puppy owners.

Reception/Administrative Assistant*

If you are looking for a job in the Pet Care industry where you get to interact with puppies, dogs and their humans, this is the job for you! We are looking for excellent communication skills, attention to detail and a sunny disposition. Our clients are very important to us, and we want them to be treated to the best service possible.

The main responsibilities of Reception are checking in puppies and dogs for training sessions, classes, Puppy Nursery or Daycare, assisting customers with the sale of merchandise, answer questions and requests, updating client files, and light housekeeping to keep our Lobby and Living Room clean and inviting! This position requires extensive use of computers.  You will also assist CEO and Lead Trainer with scheduling and special programs.

Candidates must have a solid foundation with MS Word, be proficient with email, and able to pick up our client database software quickly.  Candidates must also have excellent phone skills and be able to multitask.

Secondary duties of this position will be in our Daycare and Puppy Nursery programs, interacting with and ensuring the safety of our puppies.  You must be able to work as a team player in a busy and fast paced environment – and lift up to 40-50 lbs.  Along with Puppy Nursery and Daycare staff you will be responsible for supervising and regulating puppy play and helping to open and close the Center.  Daycare and Puppy Nursery shifts will probably be available, as well.  Experience with animals is not required, but is a big plus.

Reliable transportation is important, and a cell phone with voice mail.  A background check will be done on all qualified candidates. Positions start at $12.00/hour, and may be negotiable depending on experience. Perks include free training classes for your dog, and opportunities for education and advancement.

Puppy Nursery Staff

Hillary’s Hound House is a leader in puppy training.  Our Jumpstart Puppy Training Program™ starts puppies as young as 8 weeks and provides everything they need to learn.  Our Jumpstart Nursery is the place they learn and you will assist in training activities, walks, and playtime.

Our ideal Puppy Nursery staff has a passion for learning, caring for puppies, high energy, and excellent communication skills.  Ideally you have reliable transportation, a strong work ethic and the desire to enjoy life.  Teamwork is important and you’ll be learning from and assisting our training staff. Our environment can be fast paced and sometimes physically demanding.

Puppy Nursery staff are responsible for supervising and regulating puppy training and play in our Nursery, interacting with clients and helping to open and close the facility.  Applicants must be mature, able to take initiative, be punctual and extremely dependable.  You must also be able to function in a fast paced, environment and lift up to 40-50 lbs.  Our nursery is open Monday through Friday, including holidays.

Prior work or volunteer experience with dogs is HIGHLY DESIRED, however we train all employees.  A great personality and the desire to learn about dogs are important.

Typical responsibilities include managing and interacting with puppies in short training sessions and during play, feeding meals, washing dishes, general cleaning and maintenance.  Priorities for this position include: Attentiveness to our puppies, a willingness to maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety.  You will have the support of a cohesive team and enjoy the gratitude of clients who are devoted to their puppy’s success.

Adult Dog Daycare Staff

Our Adult Dog Daycare Program is unique because it includes daily enrichment activities and naps to make each day productive, interesting, challenging and fun.

As with all our staff you will receive training in canine behavior and body language, handling skills and lots of experience working with dogs of all sizes, ages and breeds.
This position will also interact with clients, assist with classes and requires the ability to multi-task, maintain cleanliness and safety. You will have the support of a cohesive team and enjoy the gratitude of clients who are devoted to their dog’s wellbeing.
